Inter Island Airways was established in August 1993 as a U.S. On-Demand Air Taxi Carrier, receiving its Part 135 air carrier certificate in September 1995. It began providing air service between Pago Pago (Tutuila Island), Ofu and Tau (in the Manu'a Islands) with two 9-seater Aero Commander aircraft.

From 1998 to 2002, Inter Island Airways invested capital in expanding its maintenance and operation facilities, and in the acquisition of a modern aircraft fleet of STOL (for Short Take-Off and Landing) aircraft by signing a purchase agreement with Dornier for a new 19-seater Dornier 228-212 aircraft in April 1998.

Inter Island Airways re-initiated on-demand passenger and cargo flight operations in November 2003 between Pago Pago, Ofu and Tau. In June of 2005, Inter Island Airways initiated on-demand passenger and cargo service between Pago Pago and Apia, Independent Samoa. In July 2007, Inter Island Airways received Commuter Air Carrier Authorization through the U.S. Department of Transportation. |

Inter Island Airways provides a multitude of commercial air services to the Samoa Islands, from scheduled and charter passenger and cargo service to remote islands, aerial surveillances to Air Ambulance service. An Inter Island aircraft is always ready to provide emergency medical life-threatening evacuation, or in support of pre and post natural disaster recoveries. Inter Island Airways is there to serve the Samoas and the South Pacific! |
